Strategic and Tactical Planning

Email Print

Often confused, this is the difference between how you intend to do something, objectives and outcomes (strategic) and with what and how (tactical). Using knowledge from the analysis, we can map out the market and form strategies that underpin your organisational objectives.

In the case of acute NHS trusts this may need to be undertaken as part of a portfolio of clinical services, or for one service in particular. In the current economic climate, making the required cost savings is almost impossible without rationalisation and consolidation of services. Local hospitals need to understand what they are best at in their market and strategise for the future market. In some cases, difficult decision may have to be made.

Local government have to prioritise their services, depending on local, governmental and cultural issues at the time. Educating the public to recycle or trying to prevent littering, working with mental health providers to reduce alcohol and drug misuse – all require complex strategies to give them the best chance of success.

In preparing a tactical plan to achieve your strategies, K&M will explore all avenues open to you, including all types of media, the way you do things as well as new ways of doing things.
